Tracking our engineers with new technology
In order to keep a closer eye on the efficiency of our customer services SEM Facilities have now installed the latest Trakm8 vehicle tracking system in our vehicles.
We are able to use this technology to keep a check on our engineers, but not simply to monitor driver behaviour such as acceleration, speeding, braking and fuel economy. It is more important for us to take advantage of the Find Nearest Vehicles feature, which enables us to be even more responsive to last-minute customer requests or emergencies. We can quickly identify the closest vehicle for the job in hand, and despatch the engineer to the customer location.
Real-time Vehicle Locations
We are able to track our vehicles in real time using the web portal and app. We can monitor our engineers on a live tracking map, to check whether they have completed their current assignment or are on the move – ensuring that we know precisely where our staff are, at all times, and also to ensure that they are safe and well.
The Driver app enables our staff to view details of their own journeys, to apportion business or private mileage, and to allocate historic journeys.
Storing journey information
This provides us with a great advantage. We can not only improve time efficiencies by viewing and analysing data on any journey, made by any vehicle, but information from historic journeys can help answer customer queries – and provide proof of time spent on site. So the next time we visit a particular client we can refer back to the best route, and parking areas where customers don’t have their own car park facilities.
