Amongst DCI’s portfolio of clients is one of the UK’s largest providers of student accommodation, IQ, and we carry out a programme of installation and maintenance of their heating and cooling systems. We now provide fast and efficient support of IQ’s sites in Bath, Bournemouth, Bristol, Kingston, Oxford and Plymouth, plus two buildings in Brighton and 15 around London.

THE CHALLENGE:

With responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of tens of thousands of young people around the country, IQ’s network of student accommodation buildings offer a very high standard of service. Each building, conveniently situated close to university campuses and local amenities, is manned around the clock, and equipped with CCTV and key fob access systems to ensure a high level of security at all times.

iQ Student Accommodation are fully endorsed by ANUK – the national body for accrediting student accommodation in the UK, and are members of the National Codes of Standards. This is a scheme designed to provide a minimum set of professional standards for larger student accommodation providers regarding their accommodation management. This offers students peace of mind in knowing that they follow professional standards of service.

The Codes ensures that tenants receive good standards of housing management and repairs and maintenance must be carried out within agreed timescales. The accommodation must comply with health and safety standards which covers such things as fire prevention and electrical safety.

As a consequence, if something goes wrong, breaks or stops working, IQ’s onsite maintenance team are required to deal with it quickly, and keep their residents in the loop.

That’s where SEM Facilities come in.

OUR SOLUTION:

In association with DCI we are on call to provide installation and essential maintenance services to the gas, heating, air conditioning and electrical facilities in 23 of IQ’s student accommodation buildings around the country.

We now provide fast and efficient support of sites in Bath, Bournemouth, Bristol, Kingston, Oxford and Plymouth, plus two buildings in Brighton and 15 around London.

To accommodate the challenges presented by access issues and having to work around a large body of students and staff in the building, our highly experienced expert commercial engineers are able to attend to these projects out of normal working hours.
